Step 6

The Old Dominion Brewing Company kegging system is very efficient and sophisticated. The kegging unit produces over one 1/2 barrel every sixty seconds. The keg operator put the empty keg upside down on the conveyor. The outside of the keg is washed (like a car wash). The inside of the keg is cleaned with caustic, acid, and water, then sterilized with live steam. The air in the keg is purged with CO2. The keg is filled with beer immediately. The keg operator weighs each keg to make sure it is properly filled then moves the kegs in th cooler.

Coastal Brewing Company has decided to close the Old Dominion Brewpub
in Ashburn, VA, which the company acquired in 2007 with the acquisition of
Virginia-based craft brewer Old Dominion Brewing Company.
The brewpub closing is effective August 25, 2008.

The closing of the brewpub will allow Old Dominion Brewing Company to focus on
its primary objective - producing authentic, high-quality craft beers and sodas.
This decision will have no impact on other operations of Coastal Brewing Company.
Brands under both the Old Dominion and Fordham names will continue
to be distributed and marketed along the east coast of the U.S.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thank you.
